This variety represents a cross between two highly desirable cultivated clones, 'Camila' and 'Rombito', of Cattleya lueddemanniana. It is a medium-sized, unifoliate epiphyte known for its large, strongly fragrant flowers. This particular cross is bred for vigor and superior floral qualities.
- Light: Provide very bright light. Avoid direct, intense midday sun which can burn the leaves.
- Temperature: Warm to hot conditions. Day temperatures 75°F - 85°F (24°C - 29°C), night temperatures above 66°F (19°C). Maintain a 10°F (5°C) day/night temperature difference for optimal blooming.
- Humidity: High humidity, ranging from 60-80%, is beneficial for this species, reflecting its coastal habitat. Good air circulation is essential to prevent fungal infections.
- Watering: Water thoroughly whenever the potting mix is completely dry. Reduce watering significantly during the cooler winter months after the plant has finished blooming.
Additional Notes
The flowers are large, reaching up to 5" (12 cm) across. They are produced on a short inflorescence, with typically 3-5 blooms per spike, emerging from a sheath. The flowers are highly praised for their rich, floral scent and display striking, vibrant coloration on the large, ruffled lip.
